Coins of the Roman Empire
A single session workshop at Trinity Centre, Carlisle
with John Higham of Souvenir Antiques / Hadrian Coins
Thursday, 3rd November 2011, 7-9 pm
2000 years before the Euro, there was single currency across Europe. The Roman Empire stretched from the border of India to England's Solway shore and coins made in Constantinople or in London could be spent in any part of it.
Using a power-point style of presentation with photographs as well as examples of actual coins, this workshop examine the coinage of the Roman Empire in detail over a period of 400 years. Course materials will later be made available to students who attend the course via the internet.
